Types of symmetry: Rotational symmetry repeats the drawing by rotating it around the center (n-fold symmetry), while mirror symmetry flips it once more from side to side within each section. Turning both on makes the pattern twice as dense.

💡 In mathematics, the full set of symmetry rules that creates these patterns is called the dihedral group. Real snowflakes have hexagonal symmetry (6-fold rotation + reflection) because of the angles at which water molecules bond.
