A pie chart treats an entire set of survey data as one circle and slices it into wedges sized to how much each category takes up — like sharing a pizza in proportion to how much everyone likes it. The whole circle is always 100%, and one full turn is 360°, so the central angle grows by 3.6° for every 1%.
For example, if 8 out of 20 people like summer, that's 8÷20×100=40%, and the central angle is 40×3.6=144°. No matter how many categories there are, the percentages always add up to 100% and the central angles always add up to 360° — that never changes.
