Fill it in so every row, column,
and diagonal adds up the same!

Use each number from 1 to 9 exactly once, and fill in the blanks so the 3 rows, 3 columns, and 2 diagonals all add up to the same total.

Magic squares have a very long history. Chinese legend says a turtle emerged from the Luo River with this exact 3×3 magic square carved into its shell (the "Luoshu"). In Europe, the painter Albrecht Dürer worked a 4×4 magic square into his 1514 engraving "Melencolia I."

A square where every row, column, and diagonal adds up to the same total is called a magic square. A 3×3 magic square using the numbers 1–9 always sums to 15 — because 1 through 9 add up to 45, and splitting that evenly across 3 rows gives 45÷3=15.
