💡 Quick Tip · Fraction Comparison Shortcuts Lab

No common denominator needed
One cross multiplication does the job

Finding a common denominator to compare 3/7 and 5/9 is cumbersome. Instead, use "cross multiplication" to multiply diagonally and compare the results—it is much faster. Change the two fractions with the sliders and see how it works.

Fraction A3/7
Fraction B5/9
3×9 = 27, 5×7 = 35
Since 35 > 27, 5/9 > 3/7
