Whether you sort by color, shape, or size, the very same objects end up in different groups. Press the buttons and see for yourself.
Sorting means grouping objects together based on some rule. The same objects can be sorted by color, by shape, or by size โ and the groups end up completely different depending on which rule you pick. It's not that "sorting by color is right and sorting by shape is wrong" โ both are valid ways to sort.
But when you sort, you shouldn't mix rules together, like "color and shape at the same time" โ use only one rule at a time. That way every object clearly belongs to exactly one group. This kind of sorting and counting practice is the foundation for graphs and tables you'll learn later.
Press the buttons to switch between sorting by color, shape, and size, and see how the same objects group differently each time.
